Dr. Rani Ramnath recommended that you have a dental crown placed to restore and protect a tooth. Don’t fret. At Hoke Road Dental, we utilize CEREC technology to save you time and to provide quality dental restorations, like crowns or veneers.

What Is CEREC?
CEREC, which stands for Ceramic REConstruction, is a system that allows our dentist to design and create high-quality dental restorations in a single appointment. The restorations are completely metal free. CEREC, which was developed by Sirona, uses 3D photography and CAD/CAM technology to aid our dentist in designing digital restorations. A milling unit is then used to create the aesthetic restoration.

What Should I Expect?
When you come in for your appointment, your tooth will first be prepared for your dental restoration. Your tooth will then be scanned and stored as a 3D digital model. Software is used to give Dr. Rani Ramnath an approximate shape for your dental restoration, which will then be refined to reach the optimal design. A milling machine will then be used to carve the restoration out of a ceramic block. You can even watch this process if you like. When your restoration is complete, our dentist will check the fit and color and make any needed tweaks before permanently bonding it to your tooth.

What Are the Benefits of CEREC?
CEREC has many benefits. Dental restorations made with CEREC are completed faster and are more comfortable. As previously mentioned, with CEREC technology, you can have a dental restoration placed in just one visit. This means that temporary dental crowns and veneers are a thing of the past in our office! Because CEREC takes digital scans of the teeth, impression material is not needed. Because CEREC restorations are made from ceramic, there are no dark margins, as with porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns.

We are proud to offer high-quality restorations with CEREC. Please feel free to contact Hoke Road Dental at 937-832-8000 for more information about CEREC restorations in Clayton, Ohio, and to set up an appointment.
