The process of getting a dental crown isn’t known for being quick. It’s certainly faster than it used to be, but that’s not saying much.
Now, there’s a new technology available that allows you to get crowns in place during a single appointment. It’s a same-day dental crown technology is called CEREC, and it’s a service we’re proud to offer to our patients.
But how exactly does it work? And it is as reliable as the “old” method? Let’s take a look.
How it works.
All that a CEREC machine does is bring an automated laboratory into your office. It creates a 3D scan of your teeth during your visit with a dentist for a crown consultation. Once that scan is done, the machine can then make the crown while Dr. Rani Ramnath gets the rest of your tooth ready.
From there, the rest of the process is just like a regular crown.
Are they durable?
There’s no difference in material in a crown that you get from a CEREC machine versus something that you’d wait for from a lab. And trust us—our team at Hoke Road Dental in Clayton, Ohio, has seen what happens when substandard crowns are used. Ones made in a CEREC machine are reliable.
If you’re ready to restore your teeth to their former function and beauty, then CEREC crowns may be the right choice for you. If you want to learn more, or want to schedule an appointment, call us today at 937-832-8000.
