You’ve probably heard that smoking isn’t great for your overall health, but did you know that smoking can actually have a negative impact on your oral health? Naturally, you could choose between e-cigarettes and traditional cigarettes, but, unfortunately, each of these issues could lead to serious dental issues?

As you may already know, smoking traditional cigarettes can cause your teeth to yellow and might lead to chronic bad breath. Still, did you know that if you smoke, you could also have to cope with a variety of serious dental issues? In fact, if you smoke, you could actually be more vulnerable to tooth decay, tooth loss, gum disease, and even oral cancer. If not addressed, each of these problems could become more serious.

Sadly, e-cigarettes are similar to traditional cigarettes because they can also cause a number of problems. Unfortunately, e-cigarettes will also lead to gum disease. To make matters worse, smoking cigarettes can disguise the symptoms of gum disease because it may cause pink, red, swollen, sensitive or tender gums. E-cigarettes may also dry out your mouth and limit your production of saliva. This can eventually lead to a problem, known as dry mouth. This issue can eventually cause tooth decay, bad breath, and gum disease.
